Children's Ministries

Welcome to Children's Ministries at Grace!

There are many ways for you and your children to be involved here at Grace.  Here is a sneak peek...

Sunday Mornings:  We have Nursery, Timber Land (age 2 - Gr. 5), and Timber Land Chapel (age 4 - Gr. 5) running each Sunday.

Family Fun Events:  A few times a year Children's Ministries hosts an event designed for any family that has children up through 5th grade.  Keep your eyes open!!

Outreach:  We would love to start an after school ministry that meets in individual homes.  Please contact Jen Lybarger (gracekids@netzero.net) if you would be interested in hosting or finding out more information.

Announcements

Our SUMMER SCHEDULE is as follows:

  1st Service:
  • There will be NO Timber Land running this summer for ages 5 and up.  The Nursery and 2's, 3's, and 4's class will still continue as usual through the summer months.
  • Timber Land will resume on September 7th.

2nd Service:

  • Starting on June 15th, we will be running a "Children's Church" format for kids age 4 through grade 5.  The kids will be with their parents for the first half of the service and then (those who wish to) will be dismissed to go downstairs for their own time of worship together.  This second half of the service will resemble our current Timber Land Chapel large group time.
  • Nursery and Toddlers will continue during the summer months as usual.

The Driving Home the Point take- home papers and key verses will continue to be sent home after the 2nd service.  They'll also be available at the bulletin board downstairs so you can continue your family devotions this summer.  Memory Madness will also continue to be available after the 2nd service.

Prayer List

A new Children's Ministry Prayer List has been added to the website.  Please take a look and lift up the many needs of this crucial ministry at Grace!

 Nursery   (both services)

1st Service:  The infant room is staffed and available for infants up to age 2.  Children age 2 and older are welcome to be a part of Timber Land.

2nd Service:  Both the infant room (birth to age 2) and the toddler room (2-3) are staffed and available.  Children age 4 and older are welcome to attend Timber Land Chapel.

Timber Land   (1st service)

(Please see Announcement section for our summer schedule!)

During the year, the children in Timber Land are exposed to both the Old and New Testaments.  The summer and fall are dedicated to studying the Old Testament and the Winter and Spring focuses on the New Testament and the teachings of Christ.  The children are grouped in the following classrooms:

  • Age 2-4
  • Age 5-6
  • Gr. 1-2
  • Gr. 3-4
  • Gr. 5

All the children "move up" to their appropriate classroom at the beginning of September.  If your child turns 5 in the Spring, you would wait to "move up" until the following September.  If your child has a September birthday, we can discuss the best placement for them.

Timber Land Chapel   (2nd service)

(Please see Announcement section for our summer schedule!)

Timber Land Chapel runs for the entire second service for children age 4 through grade 5 (with a recess during the summer months).  It begins directly after Sunday School at 9:45 or as you arrive for the second service.  The lesson taught in TLC enhances what the children learned in Timber Land.  The same scripture passage is used but it is taught in a different way.  If your child only comes to TLC, they will still be hearing the Bible story and Bible point for the day.  What this means is that if you have children age 2 - Gr. 5, they are all on the same scripture passage on a given week, have the same Bible memory verse and, regardless if your child comes to one service or two, they are being taught a consistent message in a unique way. A quarterly Scope and Sequence is handed out so you can follow along at home and have a quick reference to where the curriculum is going, or what you missed on a given week.

Timber Land Chapel is a time designed for your child to connect... with other children, their small group leader, and their heavenly father.  They have a time of corporate worship, a large group lesson, and then a dedicated time of study and fellowship in their age appropriate small groups.  As you come to pick up your child after the service, please take the time to connect with your child's group leader and find out what the group discussed that day.  Your follow up questions and devotions on the day's topic are so important in your child's learning!  (The weekly Driving Home the Point take-home paper will give you plenty of ideas on how to follow up with your child during the week.)
