Adult Bible Fellowship
At Grace Community we know that God highly values the fellowship of the saints and at the same the teaching of His Truths as found in His Scripture. Our Adult Bible Fellowships (ABF) provide the believer with both. ABF is a type of Adult Sunday School. All attenders are welcome and we usually provide a variety of topics.
Teaching of the Word
Scripture is God's revelation to His people for their growth and outreach. ABF provides a place were God's people can learn with other believers in an interactive environment. ABF is not a usually lecture but allows for and encourages those that desire to ask question and utilize their gifting in sharing responses and insight into the teaching of the day.
Fellowship
In a large church it is often difficult to get to know a larger group of people. Adult Bible Fellowship provide a means for the people of Grace to get to know other believers in the context of working through the truths of the Word and in sharing prayer concerns.
Connection with the larger body
Each church has a personality and for newcomers this takes a while to get a feel for. ABF provides a place to get to know the larger body and teachings of the Church.
Fall 2011 Line Up:
Understanding and Defending Our Faith led by Pastor Tom Burns and others (Sanctuary).
Do
you or your family or friends ever have doubts about what you believe? This is normal and healthy. It's been said that a faith without doubt is
like a body without antibodies. The
problem comes when people do not properly deal with their doubts. This class will help you deal with your
doubts as well prepare you to help others.
Here are some of the areas we will look: "There Can't Be Just One True
Religion," "It doesn't matter what you believe as long as you are sincere," "Christianity
is a Straitjacket," "The Church Is
Responsible for So Much Injustice," "How
Can a Loving God Send People to Hell?" "The Bible is no different than any
other holy book," "The Old Testament God
is a God of hate while the New Testament God is a God of love," "Why do bad
things happen to good people?" "If God
is holy, why did He allow evil in the world?" "I don't want to be saved because
I would need to give up the things I enjoy" and the like. People will be encouraged to add their own
questions.
"Senior" ABF led by Bill Rogers (Library).
The objective of this ABF is to provide
Spiritual and social interaction for our senior citizens-based on the Word of
God. Everyone is welcome-meeting each Sunday in the church library.
Young Adults ABF: Romans, led by Dave Lybarger (downstairs Fellowship Hall):
This
class is aimed at the college and career age and is led by Dave Lybarger. We will be looking at Paul's teaching in Romans
6-8 on the situation of the Christian life - a situation that has some tension
and conflict because while we have been made new, the powers of the old realm, that we no
longer belong to, nevertheless continue to influence us.
